Muffins!!

I made a muffin syllable game for kids to practice counting syllables in words. It is a great activity to practice their phonological awareness skills independently as center.

How Many Muffins? Syllable game

You can laminate and hand out the entire sheet as a mat or cut them up and put them on a ring.

There are so many fun ideas you can use to identify the amount of muffins (syllables) in each word.
You can try blocks, play-doh, beads, game pieces, wet erase markers, snacks, and if you are very brave- gum!! I tried and they got to have a gum to take home with them. (Some days I will try anything that motivates the kids!)

You can also have the kids jump, clap or stomp the number of syllables!

I came up with another good idea on the spot. I had the kids identify the beginning sound (letter) of each sound and with the students who are doing really well got them to write it down, I also did the last sound too! :)

Heads Up!!

Heads up for Speech!

First of all don't forget to enter my rafflecopter giveaway here!!!
Recently, my kids purchased this app on my phone and I thought what a great idea for speech therapy.  You can use this app for older kids to act out or describe different terms.  It's a great way to get some vocabulary going.

There are so many categories! There are sure to be something that will work for any kid on your caseload! And there are categories that are just for kids-- PERFECT!! :)

1 person place the phone on their head and the other person acts out or describes the word on the phone and their partner tries to guess.  You tilt the phone if they got it right or if you want to pass it. At the end it tells you how many you got correct. The only down side of this app is it needs to be played with a player that can read so it has to be with your older kids on the caseload. This is basically a more technological way to play Head Banz.

The other plus to this game is that its a great way to end a session and you can use it if you've forgotten reinforcement but haven't forgotten your phone ;)

No Print Preschool Summer Language Pack

I found this no print preschool pack from The Speech Space and I really like it! She has put a lot of work into it & it targets many different goals (all useful). I think it is a good purchase for anyone working with preschool aged kids !

Prepositions

"Wh"questions

And it tells the student to try again if the response was incorrect

I especially liked the Tell me about it which encourages conversation and vocabulary development:)

It cost $8, but I felt it was worth the money because you can use it for an entire speech session because it targets so many different goals!

Thanks Jessica!

Say, Write and Wipe- Pronouns

 Say, Write and Wipe-Pronouns
Use this flip and practice book for speech therapy or special education for students who need extra practice with pronouns!
There are receptive and expressive activities that also target practice writing common pronouns.

Many of the teachers I work with are concerned about the time students spend out of class. Many of these children are at risk for reading and writing delays.
I made this product to target pronouns but also work on writing them. This is a great activity for work in speech, special ed, or for extra practice at home.
