Now I know it's winter (at least in Alberta) and you are looking at Christmas/winter themes but I use a Transportation teme for a bit. Then I am not totally out of Christmas ideas and it's a nice little break for kids as we get into the winter season.
I only use this theme for about a week.
You can also use this pack for one on one, small group, centers in the classroom. Teachers might even like it for a center in the class.
You can pick it up here for $1.50 for a limited time!!!
These Tic Tac mats are an excellent game for speech therapy that targets many goals. It is a quick, easy option for group therapy- for those days when you don't have the energy or creativity to come up with something on your own, let me help ;-)
You can use them to target:
*turn-taking *social skills *'wh' questions *verbs *sequencing *phonological awareness- including rhyming, syllables, segmenting, identification of phonemes and blending. *concepts *vocabulary *multiple meaning words
They can be used in small groups or one on therapy. Once the student has worked on it, you can send it for homework for extra practice!
I told you about my vocabulary book, right? Well, now I made a plurals book to use in speech. Many of us have to group our kids because of large caseloads and you know how you always have that one kid who wants to answer ALL the time...this is a great opportunity to have that guy color while it's someone else's turn. I love it when we can keep those little hands and minds busy :)
It is so easy for prep too, just print and the kids cut it out, staple and print themselves...(with a little help, maybe!)
It contains s, z, ez endings as well as irregular plurals. You can target specific areas that the student is having trouble with or all of them! Easy, peasy!! Enjoy, it won't be cheap long!
St. Patrick's Day I really like using holidays to use as themes for speech therapy! Using themes takes some of the thinking and planning out of getting ready for therapy!
In some of my schools I provide "language rich" activities to the classrooms.
Recently I purchased this cute activity from my friend, (although we haven't met!!) and fellow SLP-A, Allison Fors.
I really love her products. They are useful and so visually appealing! Did I mention she does clip art too? Take a look, it is nothing short of awesome!!!!!
I used her St. Patrick's day Language scene for my grade 1 class as a following directions activity. The activity was right at the perfect level - not too easy and not too difficult! They did well and loved participating in the group activity (I did it in groups of 4).
I also used the other activities in the pack for one on one therapy- I used the preposition pages to target pronouns, concepts and formulating sentences. Really cute graphics and easy to use.
Thanks, Allison Fors! I would love to meet you one day, hopefully it is on a Hawaii trip!!!
First of all, let me say Happy Halloween! I hope you and all of the little people have a great and safe time trick or treating and partying tonight! :)
I posted my first video that is aimed to help with treatment and education, for teachers, SLP-A's and SLP's.
I have been looking and there are so many videos and so much information out there. I thought I should share some of this information on to you!
These videos are informative, helpful and if nothing else, a nice reminder.
I found this one particularly helpful for Group Sessions.
There are so many more ideas than the way I was doing group therapy. I had a lot of down time and she suggest so many other alternatives. I particularly love the stations approach! The un-group reminds me of the 5 Minute Kids program, which I have used with my artic. kids when I had a large caseload.
I love how you were specific when telling how to do the session and take data! THANK You, so helpful! Take a look!
